Classical music includes music from full orchestras and smaller chamber orchestras or ensembles, stemming from about the 11th century until present times. It can be subdivided into the following periods: Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical era, Romantic era, 20th century, and 21st century. Some forms of classical music include the concerto, the symphony and the suite, among others. Programming, which is often found on public radio stations and college-run radio stations, includes opera, show tunes and news about cultural events in addition to its focus on classical music. Listeners are primarily 55 years and older, with slightly more females than males.
